Setting up a pop-up gallery

Everything got labeled to keep it tidy and organized.

Thankfully, not alone. I have been working with the team from Partnership for Children and Youth (PCY) to support and accelerate this project - and thank goodness! The folks who work with PCY and were helping set up last night are amazing (Maria, Aleah, Dani, Jess, Anthony, Laura, Monik). Thanks to Aleah’s mini-level, Maria’s four-foot level, tape measures, blue tape, some Sharpies, pencils, and sticky putty, everything went up like a charm.

We were all invested in this event, and I wanted to make sure that there was a flow from one image to the next, one story to the next. Some pictures are left-looking, some are right-looking, some need to be up high, and others in a brighter section of the room. I love printing my images, but rarely see them at 16×20, let alone 40 of them printed at that size. Seeing this come together, seeing the stories and images woven together on the wall - I’m still blown away that it all happened. Before the reception began, I was able to walk around and see the portraits, recount the conversations, laughs, hugs, tears, and experiences shared.

The layout is starting to take shape.
